This eastern portion of the County is known for Palm Springs and the Desert Resort Communities of the Coachella Valley. The actual County boundary extends all the way east to the City of Blythe, and Colorado River border with Arizona.
The Coachella Valley (from Palm Springs to the City of Coachella) has a permanent population of over 400,000, with a seasonal influx of another 100,000 people. It is estimated that an average of 53 people per day move to the Valley, and yet it maintains a unique way of life and environment that is distinct from all other destination areas in Southern California. In this region of Riverside County it can truly be said that, Opportunity is on the Horizon, and there is a bright employment future for newcomers as well as for people who already live here and love it.

Riverside County is very proud of the quality of the local labor force, and currently employs some 2,300 residents of the Coachella Valley and Eastern County. If you are a current resident, we hope you will look to County government as an employer of choice in your next employment considerations. If you have visited Palm Springs and the Desert Communities as one of the 3.5 million annual conventioneers and tourists, you may have some idea of what the area holds for the permanent resident, but we invite you to take a closer look. Remember you don’t have to retire in order to live and play here! In fact, County employees reflect the broad diversity of ages and living styles found here in the Desert. On the other hand, if Palm Springs and the Desert Communities would be new to you, there are a number of web sites that might begin to give you a flavor of the possibilities.
