Well, hear I find myself at the end of the day at the end of the week, with no blog postings. I guess I was having too much fun this week to slow down to write a blog entry.
I went to our Riverside offices two days this week. The first time was to attend an HR Recruiters Meeting where we heard about the latest in tools for recruiting. The consultant told us we should take advantage of Linkedin, Facebook, and that we should all have a blog (gee that’s a novel idea, must write that one down). Motioning with his hand in the air, he asked, “How many of you use Wikipedia?” and assured us it was 99.99% accurate.
Well, I refrained from shouting out, “… if you want to know something about this stuff (at least my take on it)… read my blog!” Yes, you are right it would have sounded condescending.
The second trip into Riverside (yesterday) involved great quantities of food, and believe it or not we had our cake and ate it too! It was a pot luck to celebrate my manager’s birthday (which is actually today). Everyone had to have their picture take with the boss to put in her (what else) Facebook.
This afternoon our clerical support person here in Indio, who by the way is pregnant and just about at the end of her term, wasn’t feeling all that great and wanted to go home. Which as it turned out was fortunate, because it reminded me that I wanted to share a particularly broad guide on parental leave. I have talked about the laws related to parental leave, but this guide gets into the practical nitty-gritty of coming and going on leave.
Anyway, I saw this guide ( or crash course) on the BNET Business Network, entitled, “How to Take Parental Leave,” by C.C. Holland, and thought some of you might find it helpful.
Oh, I almost forgot… have a great Father’s Day! And, for a shopping tip… give him a golf getaway weekend in Palm Springs and the Desert Resort Communities. The mornings are still quite pleasant on the courses, then you hang out at the pool in the afternoon, followed by a fabulous dinner… gee, I am starting to sound like a travel brouchure.
