Palm Springs has earned a reputation as one of the premier venues for the introduction and viewing of independent films from around the world; particularly ones that are seeking US distribution partners. The Festival has also been used to continue the buzz about major films planned for release in the following year. Our festival is the legacy of former Palm Springs Mayor and US Congressman, Sonny Bono. In bringing recognition (and visitor dollars) to the city, Sonny was quite the showman and had a Cannes do attitude.
This year’s Festival is being held January 3 – 14, so there is still time to drive/fly in for the closing events. For those who came through the holidays with plenty of black ink on their bank statement there is the Jim and Jackie Lee Huston Gala at their estate on Saturday night. This will be an intimate gathering of 300 people, sampling the best of what Palm Springs living is all about (according to its publicity); $500 per person reserved seating is still available.
But, if you are like me and your direct-deposit checking account is hemorrhaging this first half of the new year, there is still an affordable blowout to check-out. The Closing Night Screening and Wrap Party is only $40 a person, and includes the film “PRICELESS” followed by a reception with food and music (wonder if it is RAP music), pool side at the SPA Resort Casino Hotel.
With everything that is going on here in the Desert, don’t you think it would be a great place to live (and work). Think about it, you wouldn’t have to drive or fly in for all the special events I have been telling you about in this blog, you would already be here! For the working part of that not so unreal daydream, check out the Riverside County jobs we have here in the Desert. Why, you can just submit your resume and we will contact you!
