I came across a projection of the Top 50 Fastest-Growing Occupations, requiring a Bachelor’s degree or higher on the careeronestop web site. The time period covered in the projection is 2006 through 2016. After a quick peruse I found that (conservatively) Riverside County currently employs people in 40 out of the 50 occupations listed. So, if you are just getting out of school and are in pursuit of a fast growing occupation, check Riverside County out… we may have you covered.

They also had a Top 50 Fastest-Growing Occupations requiring post-secondary training or an associate's degree. We have around 40 of those also.

For the Top 50 Fastest-Growing Occupations that only require work experience or on the job training, it seems we have at least 35 out of 50 occupations listed.

If you promise me that you are only going to use it to help fill vacant positions as they come up here in the Desert, I am going to give you a tip that I know will be helpful.
For this example we will use construction and building inspectors, No. 38, on the list of occupations that only requires work experience or on-the-job training. Look up on the main HR web site the job description for Building Inspector I

You will notice on the right hand side of the page, below the salary listing “Print Job Listing”, and then below that, “Email me when jobs like this become available,” this is the one you want to click on. A screen will come up to allow you to fill out your contact information.

You already know if you read this blog, that the resume you submit to the County is good for a year, right? Armed with this new knowledge (above) you can go through the job listings that appeal to you and receive an e-mail when recruitment is opened.

Unless instructed, otherwise, you don’t have to submit a new resume. But, you can e-mail the recruiter listed on the job announcement, to let that person know you have a resume in Job Match, and you are interested in the job that has just been posted. Maybe even mention your key qualifications for the position.

Once you have done that, it’s all automated and you don’t have to check back… except of course to read my blog.
