With daily news reports recounting the weakness of the U.S. economy, it easy for someone to conclude that landing a new job is remote,” so says Sheryl Silver, in her 5/25/08, article appearing in the Los Angeles Times.

But Kathleen Kurke counters with, “Although certain industries are cutting jobs, others are hiring. People in certain occupations are faring better than others, too. Recruiters who place accounting and finance professionals, for example, say business is booming. The same goes for those who recruit in the legal field.”

We hear in various news accounts that in nursing, occupational therapy, clinical science and several other health professionals, the demand for personnel is actually outstripping the qualified job applicants. The same conditions are found for occupations in law enforcement.

The point that I have been leading up to is that, notwithstanding, the economic conditions in California for State and local government, Riverside County can not stick its head in the sand and humble back as an employer. I think the general public is a lot smarter than they are sometimes given credit for, and support the need for County government to robustly go after qualified candidates, the same as any private employer would.

So, the fact is that you won’t see me (in this blog) going tippy-toes around the subject of hiring in this economy, afraid of the County being “criticized” for recruiting a world class workforce to deliver essential services our citizens.

Also, job seekers you certainly don’t have to be reluctant to apply to Riverside County for exceptionally challenging career positions that give back to the community.  I of course, hope it is the Desert community.
