Put your new bicycle (or old one with the new cup holder) on car the  rack and head out to Palm Springs.  On December 26th the Desert  "Stahlight Ridazz" will have another urban night ride.  The assembled group will leave at 7:30 p.m. from the parking lot behind Koffi Cafe, 515 N. Palm Cyn. Dr. (between Chino & Alejo) in Palm Springs.  This is a slow no one left behind fun ride for all ages, and they welcome anyone to come along on the ride.

Contact information for this group is:  760-774-3583; email: go.bike@verizon.net  No advance arrangements are required, just show up around 7:00 p.m.

As I have mentioned in previous blog entries, Palm Springs has many miles of bicycle paths, and a number of interesting city loops and corridors for you to travel on if you are more of a daytime rider.

The exercise you will get from bicycling will give you an excuse to check out the desert resort communities, if you are not already familiar with the area.

the way (if you will forgive a bit of shameless self promotion) , Riverside County is hiring key law enforcement personnel (right now) in the Coachella Valley and Blythe.  The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department provides service to the unincorporated areas of the desert as well as acting as a municipal police force for contracting cities.

For more information on positions and how to apply, you may phone:  1-888-JOIN-RSD; or view this information on the web at, www.joinrsd.org .   Yours truly will be doing some test proctoring in the future here at Indio.  Say hi, if you come in and are a blog reader.

Have a great holiday, and start to a new year in ’09.  Hope to see you next in uniform, with a Riverside County Sheriff's patch!
