Cathedral City High School recently received $2,500 from the City of Indian Wells’ School Grant Program to buy new marching band percussion instruments.  The instruments will replace aging and damaged equipment.  So far this year Indian Wells has given grants to six schools. 

When I heard this news it blew me away.  Indian Wells is a very wealthy city, but I didn’t know that City government had a regional philanthropic mission as well.  For those of you who don’t know the geography here in the Coachella Valley, Cathedral City is separated from Indian Wells by the City of Rancho Mirage and the City of Palm Desert.  So it wasn’t just a “be nice to your next door neighbor” sort of gesture, in this case the High School is two cities over from Indian Wells.
