First-Time Login Instructions

Current Employees - Employee Self Service (ESS)

Employees access Job Gateway using PeopleSoft Employee Self Service (ESS).  Employees already use ESS to view their paychecks and W-2s.  Follow these steps to access Job Gateway.

  1. Before using Job Gateway, verify your email address in ESS so that you receive important notifications and instructions throughout the recruiting process--all communications from Job Gateway are sent via email.  Log into ESS and use the Self Service>Personal Information>Email Addresses menu to view and update your email address.  Then use the My System Profile menu to view and update your system profile email.  You must view and update your email address in both of these locations.  See our ESS Email Instructions  ​​for detailed instructions.

  2. Access Job Gateway by logging into ESS and go to the Self Service > Recruiting Activities > Careers menu.  Remember, your User ID begins with the letters "ESS" and is followed by your 6-digit Employee ID.  If you forget your Employee Self Service password, click on the "Forgot Password?" link.

Layoff Employees:  Current and former employees with layoff interview preference must create a Job Gateway account through Job Gateway for External Applicants below.  Once your employment ends with the County, your Employee Self Service account is inactivated. Use these special instructions for layoff employees when creating your account.

External Applicants - Applicant Home

External applicants access Job Gateway using the Applicant Home page.  From the Applicant Home page you can browse job openings and create an account to apply to job postings.  To create your account, click on "click here to Register" or the "Register Now" links.  If you forget your password, click on the "Login Help" link; you will then enter your email address and instructions will be emailed to you.
