Dr. Drown has a long record of advocacy for women and children in both Orange County and Riverside County. She is a frequent guest speaker in both the community and on college campuses on issues of domestic violence.
 
Dr. Drown holds her PhD in Criminal Justice. She is also a graduate of the School of Behavioral Sciences at California Baptist University where she earned her Masters in Counseling Psychology. She is the Director of the Criminal Justice Program at Kaplan College Palm Springs as well as being an adjunct Professor for the University of California Extension in their Forensic Nursing Program. Her areas of research are in legislation affecting women and discretionary decision making by law enforcement in areas of domestic violence.
 
Her community service activities have included the Literacy Program in the City of Riverside for which she was awarded Outstanding Volunteer recognition by the Mayor’s Office. Dr. Drown has also been mentoring and tutoring returning students and youth for the past 15 years and is presently attached to the Indio Youth Opportunity Center assisting young men and women to finish school. In January of 2009, she organized a roundtable discussion that brought 5 Inland Empire institutions of higher learning together to take on the obstacles facing women returning to school.
 

She and her husband Bruce, who is a builder and realtor, reside in Palm Desert, California. They have three married children and three grandchildren.
