The Rubidoux Pharmacy's Fast Pak system allows the Pharmacist to customize prescriptions and provide them in packaging that will assist the member in taking the right dosage. For instance, if a member has to take several prescriptions at various times of the day, the Fast Pak system will package the dosages according to the times they need to be taken and provide customized labeling. This is only a sample of the innovative tasks this system can perform.

The Rubidoux Pharmacy utilizes the FastPak system to customize prescriptions and provide them in packaging that will assist you in taking the right dosage at the right times. For instance, if you have to take several prescriptions at various times of the day, the FastPak system will package the prescriptions according to your doctors recommendations and provide customized labeling. Below is an image of what your prescription will look like. If you would prefer to receive your prescriptions in the conventional pill bottles, please indicate this when you order your prescriptions online, by phone, or at the Rubidoux Pharmacy. 

 

The Kirby Lester tablet counter reduces the chance of human errors when counting pharmaceuticals to be packaged for members. Kirby Lester delivers 99.97 percent accuracy when counting tablets.

Exclusive Care Health Insurance was developed in 1999 to provide comprehensive health coverage to County of Riverside employees. In 2007, Exclusive Care Select was developed to provide health insurance coverage to retirees of public agencies and their dependents. The insurance plan is self-funded and provides client focused, cost effective care. About the Rubidoux Pharmacy Minimize

The Rubidoux Pharmacy offers services above and beyond the dispensation of medications such as consultation with the Pharmacy Director, partnerships with physicians for the best possible utilization of prescriptions, and innovative packaging to ensure members take the right dosage at the right times. The Pharmacy was opened by the County of Riverside Human Resources Department to provide a service to Exclusive Care Health Insurance Members and members of the public who qualify. The following statistics capture why it is so important to the County of Riverside to provide this service.

Fact:

  • In 1999, the FDA estimated that 100,000 lives were lost due to improper use of medications. 
  • Ten percent of all hospital admissions are a result of improper use of medications.
  • For individuals 65 and up, 25% of all hospital and nursing admissions are a result of improper use of med 
  • Spending in the US for prescription drugs was $200.7 billion in 2005, almost 5 times more than spent in 1990.
  • The share of prescription drug expenses paid by private health insurance increased substantially over the past decade (from 26% in 1990 to 47% in 2005).
  • The average number of retail prescriptions per capita increased from 7.9 in 1994 to 12.4 in 2006.

Dr. Jahan Shams, Pharmacy Manager

 

Dr. Shams has recently moved from Massachusetts to join our staff at the Rubidoux Pharmacy. He has over 12 years of experience consulting and working in the hospital and retail pharmacy setting in some of the most prestigious clinical institutions in Massachusetts. His latest position was with the Omnicare of Massachusetts where he worked as a clinical and consultant pharmacist, specializing in geriatric pharmacy. His areas of interest are geriatric, psychiatric pharmacology, osteoporosis and diabetes. He has earned both a Doctoral Degree in Pharmacy and a Masters in Business Administration.

Dr. Neuman is a native of Southern California.  She attended the University of Southern California and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology in 1972.  She completed her medical school training at the University of Southern California School of Medicine in 1976.  Dr. Neuman is residency-trained in Family Medicine and board-certified by the American Board of Family Medicine.  She was a partner physician with Kaiser Permanente from 1978-2001 and served as the Residency Director for the Kaiser Fontana Family Medicine Residency Program.  Dr. Neuman joined the Riverside County Department of Public Health in 2003 where she held the position of Chief of Medical Services until August of 2007 when she accepted her current position as Medical Director for Exclusive Care.  Dr. Neuman is also an Assistant Clinical Professor of Family Medicine at the UCR/UCLA Thomas Haider Program in Biomedical Sciences and is a member of the Admission’s Committee.
