Self Directed Walking Program
In the Healthy People 2010 national health objectives, physical activity is listed as a leading health indicator. Goals have been developed to improve levels of physical activity among adults, adolescents, and children and to reduce sedentary behavior among adolescents. By implementing interventions demonstrated to be effective in increasing physical activity, policy makers and public health providers can help their communities achieve these goals while using community resources efficiently.
The County of Riverside Optimal Health & Wellness Program is utilizing a Walking Program as one of these measures to improve levels of physical activity amongst County Employees and their families.

If you have been 'cleared' for participation in the Optimal Health & Wellness Physical Activity Program then you may 'enroll' in this self directed walking program. Self directed means you will track your own progress. For every week (7 day period) in which you walk at least three times and log or journal those walks you will earn 1 Activity Point. You will need to turn in your walking logs by no later than October 31st of 2010 in order to obtain credit for the premium reduction.

PLEASE NOTE IF YOU PLAN ON LOGGING MULTIPLE TYPES OF PHYSICAL ACTIVITY YOU NEED TO USE THE PEP PHYSICAL ACTIVITY LOGS OR ELECTRONIC LOGGING. PARTICIPANTS MAY NOT COMBINE THE WALKING LOGS WITH THE PEP PHYSICAL ACTIVITY PROGRAM LOGS.

To enroll in the Walking Program view the Walking Program Slides to your left, print your Walking Program logs and your Walking Program SMART Goal Worksheet and when you have a months worth of logs send them to the Wellness Team at mail stop #2546 so you can receive your Activity Point.
